Silbot153, as he is known on the popular "Wicked" forum WitchesofOz, has graciously agreed to complete an interview. A veteran to the show, he has currently seen it nineteen times - all while it was in Cleveland! Check out his insightful interview below:
Who is your favorite Elphaba and why?
It's a tie between Julia Murney and Merideth Kaye Clark. Julia, because she was my first, and she had the acting and the vocals down that night that I saw her. I have seen Merideth six times now, and her acting is really great for a standby. Her voice is perfection too.
Who is your favorite Glinda and why? Honestly, I would have to say Chandra Schwartz. Since I first saw her in Cleveland on November 18th, I have really grown to like her portrayal. At first, I hated her. I mean hated her. Now, I have seen improvements in her acting, her singing, and her stage presence.
Which Elphie/Glinda pair do you think has the best chemistry?
Kendra Kassebaum /Julia Murney. I don't honestly know what it is about them, but when I saw them, it seemed as though they were best friends in the end, and that really struck a nerve in me.
What other standouts have you seen in other principal roles? What about ensemble?
Well, my favorite Fiyero would have to be Sebastian Arcelus. Nessa, probably Dee Dee Magno Hall. One person in the ensemble that has stood out for me would have to be Stephanie Torns. Dying to see her as Elphie, but I probably never will. There is still hope that she will go on in the few days the run is still here in Cleveland...
Who are some standout understudies you have seen?
Donna Vivino [as Elphaba] when she was first starting out on tour.
Who is the nicest person you have met at the stagedoor? Wicked stage door: I would have to say Merideth Kaye Clark, or probably her makeup artist. I can talk to the makeup artist for forever. Non-Wicked: either Christy Altomare of Spring Awakening or Nikki Snelson of A Chorus Line and Legally Blonde
What was your favorite time seeing the show?
My favorite time would have to be either December 8, 2009, for many different reasons, or November 19th, evening, because I knew that I was going to be at the cast party at the bar next door since the owner invited me.
Other than Wicked, what are some of your favorite shows?
Pirate Queen, Billy Elliot, Funny Girl, Rent, A Chorus Line, Spring Awakening, Evita, and Mamma Mia!
Which "Wicked" alumni/current cast member's work outside of "Wicked" do you admire most?
Julia Murney. She is amazing and puts 400% into everything she does.
